“Give Financially to Your Church or Chapel”

Churches and Chapels aren’t all about money, contrary to what some people think and say. It’s difficult to ask for money. No matter who we are or whom we serve, asking for financial assistance is extremely delicate. It’s not uncommon for those who are requesting funds to feel inadequate and incompetent. It’s also not uncommon for askers to feel ignored or resented because of the response they receive. Why? Money is a sensitive subject.

For thousands of years, people have thought that financial generosity is fine, as long as it’s not their stuff that is being given away. Humankind has always been able to find other, more important things to do with finances, regardless of how much we have or don’t have. In fact, it is so difficult that God addresses money in the Bible more than 2,000 times. God understands how difficult it is for us to let go of a dollar, especially in relation to the Church.

This article faces the same familiar issue that we’ve all heard before. How does God expect us to give when we have so little? The answer to this question has to be more than just “God’s” request. Instead, it would be helpful for all of us to recognize that God provides us with resources specifically so that we may share with others. This not only accomplishes God’s desire for people to care for one another, but it also accomplishes the building of a warm and generous nature among humankind. This is one reason why God blesses us with the Church: so that we can put resources together and make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.

This Lenten Challenge ain’t easy, but it’s important. It’s good to be generous, not because we have so little discretionary income, but because God has provided so much that we can almost always find a way to get by with a little less.

Doing good is important. Faithful practice is healthy. Being a good financial steward not only honors God but also trusts that the LORD can accomplish more with it than we can.

Give to your local Church or Chapel! They are serving as God’s heart and hands into the community while also caring for the health and welfare of each of us!

“Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams.” (Malachi 3:10, The Message)

(Can’t get to your Church or Chapel today? That’s fine. Write a check and take it next time you attend. We could also mail it or make an online contribution. Lots of ways exist to give to your Spiritual home!)
