“Pray AT LEAST Three Times Today.”

Today’s Challenge for Lent is an easy one: Pray three times. I mean, really? How simple can we get? Nobody will know if we don’t pray today. This is just between each of us and the LORD. If we want to say a prayer, we can. If we want to say more than one, that would be even better.

Why prayer? Simple. Prayer is the one thing in life that EVERYONE needs more of. We can’t have too much of it. We’ll never be in a position where we couldn’t use a little bit more.

Prayer is our communication with God. Prayer can be offered in groups of all sizes or with just one person. Believe it or not, it’s not so much a one-size-fits-all thing. Prayers can be spoken aloud or said in silence. We can pray like we learned as a child, or we can offer prayers that others may have said or written. All of these are great ways to get us started, but for the most part, the best prayers are the ones we offer that are just between us and the LORD.

Each of us is important to GOD. Our thoughts and opinions matter to the LORD, and talking to the LORD about our needs is what God wants. God appreciates us taking a few moments during the day to check in. God would much rather us bring our issues to Him. It’s easy, free, and it surely can’t hurt anything.

Today’s Lenten Challenge is to pray three times. Prayers can be any length and offered at any time, as long as we find a way to weave three of them in our day. Meals are an easy opportunity for prayer, and so is bedtime. Starting the day with prayer is also really great, but we may have already missed that opportunity. But no worries. If we happen to be late, that’s fine. God would rather hear from us later than not at all.

“So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help.” (Hebrews 4:16, CEB)
