“Reconcile with Someone”

Here’s the Challenge that most of us have been dreading. The good news is that we’re getting it done early this Season. The bad news is that most of us are expecting to procrastinate this one indefinitely. We are hoping instead the other person will “wise up”, approach us seeking forgiveness for their boneheaded behavior, and sing praises to us as they return to their home under the rock from which they crawled.

I hate to break everyone’s bubble: The situation just described ain’t gonna happen anytime soon. In fact, it’ll probably never occur, unless, of course, we hit the lottery, literally. Otherwise, our person is not going to come all the way over here and kiss our tails, admit their fault, and shower us with goodies.

The purpose of the subtle humor is to encourage us to reconcile with someone with whom we are estranged. This Challenge is already difficult enough so there’s no reason to explain it further. We are supposed to truly love other people. As a child of God, this is what we are supposed to do.

What will our person think when we approach them after all this time? They may not think anything at all, as sometimes, the other person doesn’t even realize a problem exists. Yet it matters to us. It matters to God.

Today’s Challenge is to reconcile with someone. Think about it. Pray about it. Get on with it!

“If possible, to the best of your ability, live at peace with all people.” (Romans 12:18, CEB)
